Detroit City councilwoman and wife of Congressman John Conyers, Monica Conyers was offered a plea deal today by federal prosecutors. The FBI has been investigating bribery charges against Monica Conyers, and seems to be closing in on the President Pro Tempore of the Detroit City Council.

In 2007, Synagro Technologies won a contract with the city to remove sludge waste; Conyers was an opponent of the deal, but several thousand dollars in bribes later, she switched her vote. The Detroit City council approved the contract 5-4. Synagro Technologies benefited majorly, it was a $1.2 billion dollar contract with the city.
The U.S. Attorney’s office has revealed that Monica Conyers did in fact receive thousands of dollars in bribes to switch her stance on the contract; two key figures, who remain nameless, admitted giving Conyers the bribes.
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Conyers was offered a deal but has not accepted at this time. An ex-aide to Conyers, Sam Riddle was also asked about a reported deal he received, he said:
“I won’t discuss the elements of any offers … but a bad deal is no deal.”
Nice job Detroit, you just keep voting in the crooks and scoundrels and Obama will bulldoze your cities down when they run them into the ground. Of course Detroit isn’t alone in this type of corruption; just look at Louisiana, New Orleans in particular. Chicago and all of its thug type behavior, and of course Washington D.C. on a grander scale.
North Carolina is beginning to catch up to these other Democratic run states and cities, with corruption charges and indictments being handed down. What was it the Democrats won on in 2006? Didn’t they accuse the Republicans of harboring a culture of corruption? How hypocritical.
