We live in a very cynical society; not willing or able to accept when someone is truly good; especially in the realm of politics. We say this person is too good to be true; “This can’t be right, we say, aren’t most politicians slimy, with questionable character”? Well the truth is most are, unfortunately they are the ones still in power, they are the ones with the most power. Sarah Palin, as was said so much of her this political season, was and is a breath of fresh air. From her quips about being a hockey mom to her infectious smile; she left the average American wondering, “Is she for real”? Americans fell in love with Sarah Palin, not just conservatives, but average everyday Americans. She said what we were all thinking, and in this age of bloviating and self serving politics, we needed that.
It is true all is not well with the country, but have we ever lived in a time anywhere in history when all was well? Not that I know of, and here’s a news flash, we never will. But I think that the good people of this country are looking for a leader that they can believe in. Not just someone who waxes eloquently about all that they can do to fix our ills, but someone who truly knows what it means to be an average American citizen who feels as if they have no voice. Governor Palin was just like us, she had a revelation one day that she needed to be doing something more in her children’s school district, then it was Wasilla, and then it was Alaska. Now I feel that it is the United States of America’s turn to receive the benefits of what this remarkable woman could do as a national leader.
The character assassination that is taking place is noteworthy, because it shows just what a threat this woman is to the establishment; and when I say establishment I am not just talking about the liberals in Washington, I am talking about the media elites, the fringe elements of our society (moveon.org, etc), and sadly the pseudo conservative republicans that had the opportunity to deliver a clear message of common sense self government to the American people but failed miserably to do so. Governor Palin was the only voice that we had in this election; her message resonated with people, but the problem was her message didn’t line up with that of the republican nominee; but there will be another day, and when the time comes, we will need Sarah Palin. It is hard to say if she will remain in the national conversation for long; if she is the person I think she is, then she will be there at the right time. So, to Governor Sarah Palin of the great state of Alaska don’t forget about us, we need you; our country will need you and others like you. The only problem is there aren’t many like you.
