Illinois Senator Roland Burris’ rendition of “The Night Before Christmas” was supposed to be a way to lighten the mood and cheer up his fellow senators who have been battling over healthcare (his words); instead it was a slam against Republicans calling them obstructionists, as if the right even has the power to hold anything up in the Senate anyway.
It’s amazing how the left-wing and the democrat party refuse to acknowledge the infighting in their own party over healthcare and continue to blame republicans who are essentially powerless to do anything. It’s cowardice like this demonstrated on a daily basis by the left that has led to this country being where it is today.
Roland Burris’ attempt at humor was not only a continuation of democrat spinelessness, but a clear demonstration of their refusal to accept reality. That reality is this, the healthcare legislation they have proposed (and passed) in the Senate and the House is wildly unpopular not only with republicans, but the American people, and they alone own it. And they alone will pay for it.
The Burris poem is a lie from start to finish. Whether it’s the obvious like blaming republicans of obstruction or the subtle like saying the democrats have a mandate for reform (which they don’t). He even accuses republicans of playing politics with special interests and lobbyists. It’s been the democrats playing politics all along, with each other.
You can read Roland Burris’ ridiculous version of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” here. Or just watch the video below, if you can stomach it.

I’m sending Burris the new HP webcam for Christmas.

Maybe you should send it to Obama, then we’ll really see if the camera’s racist or just a plain hater.

Shannon,
Nah, the Christmas present I would leave for Obama is the ever-popular dog crap in the burning bag on his front steps routine. Always a classic!

Yeah, but that’s more of a Halloween gift don’t you think? You need to send him something that shows you really care around Christmas.
