New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is flying to Copenhagen on a private jet, as he does most places he travels. Bloomberg a staunch proponent of the green movement is big on telling folks what to do and how to do it in order to save the planet, but as outlined in a New York Times article, he’s not very good at following his own advice.
It’s no big secret that liberals are huge carbon emission hypocrites, flying here and there on their private jets, living in huge mansions (hello Al Gore) all the while telling the average Joe that he needs to cut back for the good of the rest of us. Funny thing is, the rest of us (average Joes) aren’t asking anyone to cut back on anything. This from the Times article:
Mr. Bloomberg owns a helicopter and two jets, both Falcon 900s. He flies everywhere on private jets, by far the least efficient form of transportation on or above the earth. He takes his jet to Bermuda many weekends. He has flown around the globe on it. He uses it to go to Washington. He is planning to get to Copenhagen for the climate conference by private jet, too.
Bloomberg isn’t the only attendee of the Climate conference who flew in by private jet. The vast majority of major delegates probably did. No doubt the heads of state attending required huge carbon footprints to be able to make their cases for cutting greenhouse emissions; but who really cares, right? It’s all about trying your hardest to save the planet. At least by showing up their giving it a shot; or so that’s what the liberal elites would have us believe.
The Times article goes on to defend Bloomberg’s personal polluting because he does such a great job of driving home the environmental movement’s message in his public life. So essentially it’s okay for a politician to live a hypocritical lifestyle as long as his/her public policies line up with the radical left’s agenda? Okay, just checking.
