This topic of Tiger Woods and his infidelities will soon run its due course. Eventually the American public will forget about this, and will move onto something more exciting and controversial, to be sure. However, I came across this article from NBC Sports, and it became obvious that I needed to share it with the rest of the normal world. I won’t spoil this for you or spill the beans, but according to the folks in this article, the black community isn’t too keen on Tiger having his affairs with white women. And I thought only white TEA Party members were racist? Isn’t that what Garafalo said?
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t care about Tiger having affairs. Let his wife divorce him, take half his fortune and the kids, and then he can be a playah again, no worries, no cares. Inevitably he’ll do a 60 Minutes interview, or a Barbara Walters interview and blah blah blah. Who cares? What bothers me is this insinuation that Tiger is racist because he prefers white women, and the black community isn’t too down with that. Whatever.

Pardon me for seeming trite and petty, but the liberal State-run media, (and you know who you are you cheeky puppets), has made it a point to insinuate that white right-wingers are all racists, and I’m simply waiting for their “outrage” over these statements from an article posted on one of their web sites. i agree – it’s his preference. i believe he grew up in a mostly white community and went to schools (including Stanford) that were predominantly white. so those are the girls he’s accustomed to. in addition, i don’t believe he ever had a black female family member in his life (his mother is an asian immigrant) as a model he might look for in a girlfriend or wife. i actually might’ve expected him to date an asian-american woman. but culturally speaking, i think he’s accustomed to white america and that’s what he’s comfortable with. and don’t forget, he’s a black man in a white sport, and they probably hate on him all the time. so, subconsciously, he also might be using these white women to throw in their faces – show ‘em that they can’t beat him on or off the course.

Look deeper my shallow friend: The black community is not being racist when they get upset with black men who ONLY date white women ( and the group who only date blondes are the worst.) They are complaining about SELF HATRED in the black community. Men, in general, chase women. Furthermore, the wealthier the man the better his prospects. It says something about a black man who, once he has wealth and status, ONLY chooses women outside his own ethnicity. Very little of Tiger is Caucasian. His father was basically black and his mother is Thai. Where are the Thai women in his entourage? Tiger, like many african american men, hates his black skin and will do anything to “lighten” his genetic line. The list of these men is looong: Michael Jackson in the extreme, Clarence Thomas, Taye Diggs, Quincy Jones….. Obama bucked the rule. That was one clue that he was a different kind of man.

This is a personal matter between Tiger Woods and his wife Elin. The main reason why the MEDIA has dove into his PERSONAL AFFAIR is because he is the first athlete to reach billion dollar status who happens to be a Black Man married to a Swedish Woman. Furthermore, This affair does not sit well with his “GOOD BOY IMAGE” that has been portrayed for YEARS prior to all of these allegations pervading across the country. The truth of the matter is that I have an issue with NIKE offering his wife a very lucrative contract based upon this affair. Now, that is ABSOLUTELY ABSURd!!! No one offered Magic Johnson’s wife or Michael Jordan’s wife a lucrative contract because she was cheated on…This is the issue in WHITE AMERICA…Why is there so much concern for Elin and the reality of the situation is that MANY ATHLETE WIVES including African – American Athletes who have married African – American Women are cheated on consistently…What about their feelings – CAN NIKE PROVIDE THEM WITH A CONTRACT TOO???

I find it fascinating that when Shaq’s wife looked after her own best interest she was deemed a “gold digger” but when Tiger’s wife looks after her best interest the public stands behind her, the “victim”. She chose to be the victim up until this point. NO ONE cheats on their spouse with this many ppl and goes undetected. She is only leaving now because it is out in the public eye.

Let’s be honest people. Tiger has some serious issues going on. He is in deep denial regarding his ethnicity. Since he was raised in a predominantly upper middle class white neighborhood, can you imagine how those kids must have taunted him about his skin color. I went to Ole Miss (Univ. of Miss) and was often the only black student and they can really let you have it. If you’re not confident, secure, strong mind, proud of your heritage those comments and attitude can have serious damage on anyone’s self esteem, even more so for Tiger because he was a kid at the time. Here is a billioniare black man who looks like a black man but identifies with “white” people and “white” culture ONLY. I was disappointed more by Tiger years ago when he denied that he was black. His blackness was the only part of him he openly denied. He never disagreed when being called White did he. He made lewd jokes about Black men and women in that GQ interview, didn’t he? Did he make any jokes about Whites. Funny. A man that looks everything like a black man degrading Black people as if he was some redneck hick. In his detached reality, he really is White. I have so much admiration for Colin Powell who said that he calls himself black because that’s what people see when they look at you and you should accept who you are. Tiger has a lot to learn from Colin and Obama. His complexion is dark yet, he’s so confused that he insists on focusing on 1/8 Caucausian rather than his 50% black and 50% Asian. He has to dissect his ethnicity down to small fractions just to focus on the 1/8 Caucasion. I feel sorry for him. I really do. This is not about someone’s preference, this is about someone who grew up feeling that Black people and Asian people were ugly and inferior to White. Anyone with half a brain can see that he doesn’t like himself and suffers from the same identity crisis that Michael Jackson had for years. No amount of talent, money, women, press, etc. can replace a healthy mind and self perception of yourself. Tiger needs intensive counseling by a therapist who will not shun away from forcing Tiger to accept ALL of his heritage. I have friends that are Asian and it’s so sad because their family members prefer that they marry in this order-White, Asian, or none at all. It seems that minorities have this deep seated inferiority complex. Wake up and learn to love yourselves. Don’t let anyone constantly focus on the negatives in your race. We have got to move past this and embrace a true multiculturalism where every race is judged to be equal.

the definition of a racist is someone who thinks one race is better than the other. Of course there are many beautiful women of all races: I, for one, being a gorgeous black woman. There IS a thin line between having a preference and being a racist, and sadly, (even though it doesnt matter much to me because tiger is ugly) tiger has crossed that line. I admit that i have a preference for white guys, but that does not mean i exclude dating guys or liking guys of other races. I have been with black guys and hispanic guys (again this goes back to all races having nice looking ppl in them) and i like tons of guys from all different races. tiger, i bet, has not once (at least lately) dated one black girl. this issue is sensitive to black women because we have not been the image of beauty and when we see one that we view as our own, or even mixed with black, we get offended. so until u turn into a black woman then i do not believe u will understand. of course it is just my opinion, and he may not mean for it to be that way, but tiger woods is a racist.

I have to agree with much of what Sharon says here. I have a few differences of opinion but I’ll let those rest. My main disagreement is with the ethnic percentages. 1/8 Caucasian? 50% Black? 50% Asian?
I think that this is a common mistake people make. They think that you can divide a person’s ethnicity by taking the racial label applied to each parent and dividing by two. So if you have an Asian mother and a Sub-Saharan African father, then you simply divide 1 person by two ethnicities and come up with 50% of each. That is wrong.
Mixed ethnicity does not depend on taking two parents and splitting the child down the middle, but on the genetic markers that are transferred to the child from each parent, and that rarely comes out as 50% / 50%. On a genetic level, traits are passed from parent to offspring, and even though you have one parent from either ethnicity, the child will inherit more genetic material from one parent than another. In other words, Tiger Woods may look the way he does because, genetically, he’s 79% Black. Now, he can call that anything that he wants, but the reality is that if you look Black, it’s probably because you’ve inherited more Black genes than anything else.

Thanks for clarifying a few things for me. I understand what you’re saying that biracial children are rarely 50/50 but they will inherit more genetic markers or traits of one parent and resemble that one parent more. Tiger has stated in numerous interviews that his mother’s grandfather was Dutch. So according to Tiger he is 1/8 Dutch. He seems to be very proud of that particular ancestry. Even though that still makes his mother with both parents Asian, still an Asian woman. Regardless of the allottment of percentages he is still Black and Asian. The two ethnicities that he tries to avoid accepting. I’m less concerned with the science of genetics and more concerned with the psychology of biracial and minority children. Tiger had enormous power and influence that he could’ve used to give back to minority children and be a positive image for them. Rather, once again, they see a wealthy black man who is obsessed with white women. And once again, they are reinforced with the idea that white is better. Thank God for Obama. He came along at a time when African Americans desperately needed a role model like him. Tiger is a very arrogant and selfish man. Never did he go to the minority schools to speak with students to stay in school and take pride in themselves. I’m not sure if he offerred any scholarships, but I doubt it. This is a man with too much money at too early of an age, and with too much free time on his hands. If he had filled his life by giving back to those less fortunate and being more inspirational to minority children, blacks and asians would’ve claimed him as their own and stood by him during this fiasco and bought his products just to show their support. The black community would have been very vocal in supporting him. Due to his empty life, he filled it with a trophy wife and whores thinking it would be enough. Hopefully, he can grow up and realize that God really had a higher calling for him that had less to do with putting that little white ball in a hole. He had an opportunity to change people’s lives for the better. He still does if chooses to.

I agree with your assessment.
It seems clear to me that Tiger Woods is trying to distance himself from being considered to be a Black man. It is equally clear from his hair texture, skin, and facial features, that most of his inherited genetic material is Black (his father).
The truth is that at least 18% of Blacks are mixed with White ancestry, and perhaps as high as 25%, depending on what study you believe. Add to that the mixture with indigenous American peoples and hispanics and the numbers go much higher. If we ONLY considered black people to be persons on unmixed ancestry, then we’d be dealing with a much smaller pool.
Tiger is Black in the one way that really counts to almost anyone—he look it. And somehow, that seems to just kills him.

Sharon, thank you for your articulate opinion. The reason why some black people became annoyed with Tiger when he claimed he was caliblasian was because he refused to just call himself black. Unfortunately, Tiger doesn’t see himself the way most people see him. When I look at Tiger, I see a black man. I’m sure others see the same. I have relatives who are mixed with African, Italian and French. They are so light they could almost pass for white, yet they still call themselves black. Hopefully, this situation will be an eye-opener for Tiger. In this country if your skin is dark, you’re black. The caliblasian remark was interesting, but delusional.

By the way it is wrong to compare Michael Jackson with Tiger Woods. Michael Jackson lighttened his skin simply bacause he wanted to appeal more to the bigger market – which in this case is white. Michael Jackson decided to have white kids because he wanted to entreach his legacy in the white community. But all fairness to Michael, he has always every time identified himself as a black man. The songs he wrote and sang has nothing to do with white people – they were all about blackness, and highlighting his blackness.

90% of the people here are ignorant. If a man wants to date a woman out side his race that is like Bobby Brown would have said is his purgative. A person is not racist because he or she is attracted to someone of another race. If you were familiar with science you would understand that opposites attract like positive and negative man and woman, and yes even black and white.
