What a shame. What a shock. President Obama’s approval rating in the latest Rasmussen poll is down to 45%. How do you suppose the spinmeister’s in the media will deliver this kind of news? Could it be because of his ridiculous stretching out of a decision on Afghanistan? Or maybe it’s the terrible healthcare plan that he seems determined to ram down the American people’s collective throat. Maybe it’s all of the above.

Obama’s approval index rating is -15, with 27% strongly approving. Democrats are still firmly in the tank with 81% approving while only 33% of unaffiliated voters like how the President is doing. One thing’s for sure, Obama has had some rough days of late.

Whether it be his non-decision decision on Afghanistan or the perception that the democrats will pass healthcare against the will of the people. Or maybe it was that bow in Japan, that didn’t help much either.

Throw in Congress asking Tim Geithner to resign and you have yourselves the makings of a pretty rough year coming up for Obama.

The Rasmussen poll also says that 53% of Americans think the government will do too much when trying to fix the Nation’s economic problems. I’ll throw this one in for free, I think they’ll do too much while trying to “fix” healthcare. Can anyone say overreach?

This Rasmussen poll showing Obama’s approval rating at 45% is just a harbinger of things to come for the Democrats and Obama in 2010.
