Former New York Mayor and Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani says that the decision to bring Khalid Sheik Mohammed and 4 other terrorists here for trial is a grave and dangerous mistake. Rudy says that New York citizens are being put at unnecessary risk by bringing terrorists here to New York for trial when they should be taking place in a military tribunal.
Giuliani spoke on “Fox News Sunday” and CNN’s “State of the Union”. He said that Obama’s decision to bring the terrorists here is politically motivated and serves no practical purpose. I think we all know how Obama feels about the war on terror. To him, it doesn’t exist. Giuliani said:
The decision of the Obama White House shows that “both in substance and reality, the war on terror in their point of view is over,” Giuliani told Fox. “There seems to be an over- concern with the rights of terrorists and a lack of concern with the rights of the public.”
Axelrod of course defended the decision saying that the criminals were being put on trial at the scene of their crime. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) said that we’re the most powerful country in the world with a judicial system that’s the envy of the world, he went on to say let’s use that power.
What an asinine thing to say; if a Republican had bragged about us being the most powerful country in the world and showing off our judicial power how long would it take someone like Patrick Leahy to hit a microphone and denounce that person? Not long. Axelrod and Leahy miss the point with both of those statements, these guys aren’t criminals, they’re terrorists.
Rudy Giuliani’s condemnation of the New York terror trials is warranted. Rudy was there the day it happened; he saw it up close and personal. He knows the difference between an act of war and a common crime. Obama, Eric Holder, David Axelrod and Patrick Leahy don’t.

How dare Giuliani try to keep those of us who live in NYC from getting real justice for 911 just to get face time on Faux News? He has completely sold out New Yorkers.

Giuliani and the republcan party are proudly marching forward to deal with these issues in a timely matter. If only we were in power, we would do it decisively, the way we handled Katrina, the way we kept the command center in the twin towers after the first bombing, the way we “mission accomplished” iraq. Oh, wait. Nevermind. Come to think of it, please don’t ever elect us again. We do best as pundits with no real responsibility.

Looks like Mayor Giuliani and other Republicans believe the terrorists are prisoners of war now. Quite a reversal. I guess the Geneva Convention should kick in, right Republicans.
