What would you not want to happen if you were pushing legal-marijuana legislation? Oh I don’t know, maybe you wouldn’t want the fact that you were present when your boyfriend was arrested for possession of marijuana come out? That’s exactly what Rep. Barney Frank is going through right now; Frank is pushing the passage of legalized medical marijuana and now it comes out that Barney Frank was at his boyfriend’s house in 2007 when the man was arrested for possession.
According to a report out of Boston, Barney Frank was present when his boyfriend, James Ready was arrested for marijuana possession, cultivation and use of drug paraphernalia. Barney Frank told authorities that he didn’t live at the house and that he only smokes cigars. That’s what they all say, Barney.
Over at Atlas Shrugs you can see some of Barney Frank’s, shall we say questionable relationships. He apparently has a proclivity for getting mixed up with nefarious characters and then uses his position to influence or back legislation in their favor. There’s nothing unethical about that whatsoever.
Of course the lefties are saying this is a two year old story and Fox News dredged it up just to make the congressman look bad, nah, Congressman Frank seems to do that all on his own.

So what if he did smoke weed?
As long as Cannabis is Illegal it will be easier to get at than alcohol. As long as we depend on back alley crone’s to sell it on the underground, there’s no way to ensure it’s not being sold to children, nor to ensure that there aren’t toxic additives or verify the strength of strains being sold. Regulating the sale of Cannabis would only serve to protect our children and society as a whole.
Keeping Cannabis illegal makes no sense. Cannabis itself has a virtually nonexistent toxicity, it is primarily the smoke itself that causes concern. Even the smoking risks have less social costs asssociated with them when compared to drinking alcohol. In addition, Vaporization virtually eliminates the concerns of carcinogens in cannabis.
As for addiction, roughly 9% of those that consume cannabis become dependant; as opposed to 35% with nicotine or 15% with alcohol (both legal).
Also, unlike alcohol, cannabis does not fuel aggressive behavior. Ask a police officer the last time they had to stop an assault where cannabis consumption was involved. Then ask the last time they got a call to take care of an assault where alcohol consumption was involved. You will hear them state repeatedly that alcohol fuels aggressive and potentially violent behavior whereas pot does not.
Why are we driving people to drink when there’s a safer alternative?

I really need to run for office! It seems you have to be a congressman to be able to just ignore any laws you do not like.
I am just a lowly citizen.

Hey man, like Barney is cool, like a pink dinosaur, so chill dude man, and like totally do whatever groovey old time hippeys do and what not. This is like the time he didn’t know that his boyfriend was running a house of homo prostitution in his (Barney’s) own house! This guy wants to tell you how to live your life but he has no idea what’s going on in his own house? Hey old pot head hippies from the 60’s!!!!!! Remember the song that included the line, “HE CAN’T RUN HIS OWN LIFE I’LL BE DAMNED IF HE’LL RUN MINE”? As always to tyrants.
