Strange but true. A surveillance camera in North Carolina was running and caught a deer swimming in a pool. The deer apparently crashed through the roof of the enclosed indoor pool and spent about 15 minutes doing laps before workers were able to herd the deer to the shallow end and out the door.

Maintenance Supervisor Carl Moore of the Ashley Arms Historic Apartments got a call that he never thought he would. A call saying there was a deer swimming in the pool. Moore says that he thought it might be a Halloween prank, but when he arrived he found the deer that he described as having 4-6 points swimming laps.

Moore said in the Charlotte Observer:

“You could tell he was starting to get really exhausted,” he said. “We knew we had to do something quick before the deer drowned.”

Living in North Carolina I’ve spotted deer before in some of the strangest places. They tend to show up at the strangest times, looking for food or whatever; especially now during hunting season.

A deer swimming in a pool is just par for the course in this neck of the woods. It is rather ironic though that it would happen on Halloween, giving the impression of a prank. They say cats have nine lives, I think deer have a few as well.
