Doesn’t anyone have a sense of humor anymore? That’s my question after seeing this story out of Australia in which a group calling themselves the “Jackson Jive” went on stage sporting blackface in an attempt at humor. The group, which has apparently been together 20 years, say that this was simply a tribute to the late Michael Jackson.
You can see the video below, in which our own Harry Connick Jr. is so offended by the act that the show’s host openly apologizes to Connick on live television. After watching the video I see what the group was trying to do. Five guys in blackface might have been offensive had it not been for the sixth guy who showed up in “whiteface” portraying Michael Jackson.
Harry Connick Jr. of course went on a diatribe about being insulted and the plight of black people in America. I empathize with black people in America, but really, what ever happen to just having a sense of humor? Seems that those days are gone; you can’t even criticize the President without being called a racist these days.
The biggest insult in this video was the guy with whiteface portraying Michael. If Connick was going to be mad about something he should have been mad about that. It’s time we all lighten up just a bit, don’t you think?

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!?!?!?!?! “I empathize with black people in America, but really, what ever happen to just having a sense of humor?” So racist depictions of an ethnic group is funny to you? Then you must have a really twisted sense of humor. I suggest you do some research on blackface and realize that it was not intended to make white people feel more comfortable about black people. If anything, it was used to reinforce nasty stereotypes about them. Oh wait, why am I wasting time writing this? This is a conservative blog, so OF COURSE you think racism is funny. I bet seeing pictures of black people hanging by a noose from a tree must have rolling on all fours from laughter, too. Please feel free to go back draping a white sheet over your heads and waving your Confederate flags. And make sure you’re not late for your next KKK meeting. Good day to you all.
